Origin: Shizuoka Prefecture, Honshu, Japan
Gyokuro is hand-plucked, unlike most Japanese teas which are harvested by machine, which ensures it consistent high quality. During the growing period, bushes are shaded to slow the growth and increase the nutrient and chlorophyll content. A fine, needle-like, dark green leaf which produces a velvety, cloudy, champagne-coloured liquor. It holds delicious notes of seaweed, steamed greens and sweet pea.
